1/30 - HW assignment... energy transfer/ what does cold/warm mean? - fill 3 cups with water... one should be warm/hot tap water (around 90 degrees F), one should be cold tap water (under 60 degrees F) the middle one should be room temp (around 70 degrees F) ... place an index finger from each hand in the cold and hot for 60s. then place both at the same time in the middle room temp water... record your observations. 3pts

12/6---12/14 - The Secret Star! 15pts - Virtual Lab - become an investigative reporter "Science Sleuth" and support your conclusion with several pieces of evidence from multiple different sources!
12/12---12/19 WOA! "writing. oral. artistic" - 20pts Choose a topic from Space Science (that we haven't studied yet) or Earth's Surface to focus your research. You will use at least 1 reading passage, 1 video clip (about 10-30 min long), and some other resource in DE to gather information about your topic to share with the class. You will choose 1 of 3 options for presenting your findings... 2-3 minutes... see DE for details.
12/20---1/2 - Students given a study guide for midterm exams... begin reviewing old assignments, create flashcards, quiz yourself, ... be able to meet each objective in time for the exam! There will be little new material after vacation.
1/2 ---1/3 On DE: 7pts Galaxy Reading Passage - read, take notes (2pts) and answer the question through DE (5pts)
1/3--1/5 (or maybe end of class 1/8 if we have a snow day Friday also...) 10pts "Fun Fact" - topic stars, galaxies, universe ... facts should be all taken from DIFFERENT resources on DE... mix up the media types and be sure the facts aren't too obscure, trivial (unimportant, so specific that no one would possibly remember 10 years from now unless they were an expert specialist in the field!)
We will use your lists to form challenge questions for a review game of information for both the midterm and an upcoming test.

DON'T RESEARCH ... just be ready to share your thoughts, jot down a few in your notes... 1. what is space? 2. scientists say the universe is expanding... if so, what is it expanding into? ...especially if space is a part of the universe. 3. Where is the universe?
10/16---10/20 10pts - We will review some resources together in class to develop our research skills... keep up with daily class notes and discussion in your notebooks. Be sure to show me towards the end of the week that you have done so. We will use our research notes to write an essay that explains the Big Bang Theory... the evidence that supports it as an explanation for the origin of the universe as well as its shortcomings and areas for further scientific study.

You will have class time on Monday to watch it as well, ask questions, and make your way through the many interactive texts that provide additional information. As you make your way through it, fill out the worksheet guide given. The worksheet should be completed through part V "Big Bang" by the start of Tuesday's class
10/24---10/26 - 5pts - organize most important/relevant info from research notes to write an essay in response to our essential questions:
- Which is the most widely accepted scientific theory for the origin of the universe? ...Why?
- What evidence exists to support the Big Bang Theory?
